Blue Skies in Greystones at the Official Opening of La Touche Court
Túath Housing Association in partnership with Wicklow County Council were delighted to officially open La Touche Court on Monday 23rd May. This collaboration which also included an input from NAMA, Department of Environment, Community and Local Government and Portella Developments resulted in the delivery of seven fantastic homes. They say “life begins at 40” but for these residents 55 and over is the new 40 as these homes were designed specifically for those 55 and over. The seven families who were allocated these homes by Túath from Wicklow County Council’s waiting list are all delighted with their new homes and Marie O’ Hagan, a La Touche resident spoke at the opening outlining her delight!
The Cathaoirleach Councillor John Ryan opened proceedings and unveiled a new public bench to mark the occasion, in his speech he emphasised the need to share valuable resources and how going forward Wicklow County Council, working closely with Túath Housing and other stakeholders, he is confident that many other similar projects will be delivered in Co. Wicklow easing the housing crisis. He also congratulated all the new residents and wished them well in their new homes.
Also in attendance on the day were our new Minister for Health, Simon Harris and Minister of State for Food, Forestry and Horticulture, Andrew Doyle, as well as representatives from both NAMA and Portella Developments. The beautiful weather added to the enjoyment on the day and proceedings were concluded by Túath Housing Chairman Mr. Seamus Doherty who stated how “Túath is focused on the delivery of affordable homes to our community. This development provides excellent affordable housing specifically designed to cater for the needs of its residents. The project evidences the strong partnership between Wicklow County Council, NAMA, Government Departments and ourselves. We look forward to working with our partners in future developments”
