Mortgage to Rent
The MTR scheme is a government initiative to help homeowners who are at risk of losing their homes. The scheme is an option for people who have been exited from the Mortgage Arrears Resolution Process (MARP) with their lender due to their mortgage being deemed unsustainable. The basic principles of the initiative are the homeowner voluntarily surrenders their property to lender; the lender sells the property to a Housing Association who in turn rents the property to the owner so they can remain in their home.
